ADL’s Annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents shows an alarming rise in incidents of antisemitism, breaking previous record levels recorded in 2021. The United States averaged ten incidents of antisemitism every day last year, resulting in 3,697 incidents of harassment, assault, and vandalism. These included assaults on Jews in public, Molotov cocktails being thrown at synagogues, and the hostage-taking in Colleyville. As antisemitism, extremism, and hate in all forms continue to threaten the safety and security of the Jewish community and our neighbors, friends, and colleagues, we are counting on our elected officials to act to protect our communities.

Antisemitism expressed as hatred of Jewish people, sometimes exhibited in violent acts, has today risen to levels not seen in decades. Throughout history, antisemitic hatred has been directed at several immutable characteristics, including religion, race and ethnicity, and Jewish self-determination and statehood of Israel. Across the United States, swift and meaningful action coupled with education about the history and dangers of antisemitism is required.
Such education and action are essential to prevent the spread of antisemitism, provide strong support to a vulnerable community, and combat a toxic hatred that will harm not only the Jewish community but all community members. There must be no caveats or qualifiers when condemning anti-Jewish hate, violence against Jews, and antisemitism in all spaces. I commit to:
1. Continue to learn about the Jewish people as well as the complex, multifaceted, and often subtle nature of antisemitism;
2. Name and publicly condemn acts of antisemitism and other forms of hate whenever encountered;
3. Advocate for policy solutions to combat antisemitism and improve the understanding, prevention of, and response to incidents of antisemitism in schools and other public entities;
4. Urge the federal government to fully fund initiatives to fight antisemitism and make all relevant appointments necessary to combat antisemitism domestically and globally.
